Hi, I’m Davin (she/her)

I came to therapy through a lifelong curiosity about how the dynamics we grow up with shape the way we move through the world — in our relationships, in our sense of self, and in the patterns we repeat without always realizing it. I chose to study Marriage and Family Therapy because I believe mental health doesn't arise in isolation. Supporting relationship and community health builds individual health, and vice versa.

I work with teens, adults, and couples navigating family-of-origin dynamics, life transitions, and the ongoing work of building and sustaining meaningful connection. I believe deeply in the medicine of connection and the support that can be cultivated within loving relationships and community.

My approach draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy — which in practice means I pay close attention to what's happening in the room, right now: shifts in tone, body language, emotional intensity, the moments when something gets avoided. When feelings or parts show up, we slow down and get curious about where they're coming from and what they're trying to say.

I approach these moments as opportunities for clients to lean into curiosity and self-compassion. From an Internal Family Systems lens, I bring a non-pathologizing perspective that views symptoms and defenses as adaptive attempts to protect the person from pain. I want clients to feel that all parts of them are welcome in the room, even the parts they fear, dislike, or feel ashamed of.

In relational work, I'm especially attentive to emotional needs, attachment styles and wounds, and patterns of connection and disconnection between people. I try to help clients move underneath defensiveness or reactivity and toward more vulnerable emotional expression.

Outside the therapy room, I've been making ceramics for ten years, grow things on a farm, and spend a fair amount of time finger-painting and blowing bubbles with my toddler. I love classic poetry and have been known to share Rumi's "The Guest House" with clients at just the right moment.

Davin is completing her final year of an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Antioch University New England.
