“The body is not an apology. It is not something to be fixed. It is not a flaw. It is a miracle.” — Sonya Renee Taylor
Why This Support Group
Many of us carry, for years on end, quiet judgment and unhappiness with our bodies — shaped by old stories, unfair ideals, and internalized expectations. It can feel like it’s always been there, taking up space in our minds and holding us back from living fully.
What if there were a way to transform this private struggle into something kinder, more restorative, and brave — through community, honest conversation, and wise guidance?
This group offers a space to explore body image with compassion and curiosity. All bodies are welcome.
What We’ll Do Together
In four restorative-circle sessions, we’ll treat body image healing as lived and relational. Each meeting practices two of the Eight Principles and invites you to create a personal Tree of Growth—your map of roots (foundations), trunk (experiences), branches (practices), and leaves (connections). This isn’t a lecture; it’s shared experience, reflection, and gentle practice.
Arrive & Ground: breath, reflection, shared intention
Explore Two Principles: prompts, journaling, conversation
Grow Your Tree: map roots • trunk • branches • leaves
Share & Reflect: optional peer sharing and gratitude
Carry It Forward: one word, takeaway, or intention for daily life

It’s a therapeutic support group facilitated by a registered dietitian nutritionist who works at Heart Stone Counseling. This means that it is a little bit of both.
-
Insurance will not pay for this group though we can accept HSA / FSA cards. We offer split payment options and are willing to discuss the option of reduced payment for those experiencing financial hardship. Heart Stone is also working to offer a discount to anyone participating in more than one Heart Stone group at the same time. More on this soon.
-
Movement will be gentle and optional; somatic practices are intended to be accessible to all bodies. You always have a choice to rest or modify.
-
Janet plans on this group being an ongoing one and hopes that the circle process will lend itself to shared and rotating facilitation so that content and themes will build and deepen as the group forms. That said, you are encouraged to go at your own pace, participate as you are able and enter back in when the time is right.
-
No. When you pay for the four / eight sessions, you are reserving your place. We want to encourage consistency and attendance.
