Hi, I’m Caitlin. (she/her)

I’ve always been fascinated by people—by why we feel what we feel, say what we say, and carry the dreams that we do. As a child, I used to hide under the table after dinner so I could listen to the grown-ups talk, soaking in the deeper layers they revealed about themselves, each other, and the world. My lifelong curiosity led me from a long career in the arts and education to the field of therapy, following an illness that called me to face life’s fragility with courage and compassion.

Now, I work with adolescents and adults (all genders, LGBTQIA+ allied) both individually and in groups. I see the therapeutic space as one of co-creation: your story, your strengths, your pace. With a background in creative writing (MFA, Naropa University) and a developing MA in Counseling Psychology with a Creative Arts Focus (UMF), I draw on modalities that honor the whole person—mind, body, spirit, and story. I blend person-centered, existential, humanistic, and depth-psychology traditions with experiential tools: expressive arts (writing, drawing, movement, music), mindfulness, somatic practices (interoception, polyvagal-based work), and Brainspotting.

My focus areas include life transitions, relationships, identity and self‐esteem, trauma, anxiety, and living with or healing from illness or chronic pain. My deepest hope is always this: to hold a space where you feel valid, safe, and empowered—and where the parts of you that have been buried, overlooked, or silenced can eventually find voice. Therapy with me is a creative, compassionate, and authentically collaborative journey.

Outside of work and school, you’ll often find me walking Maine’s seasons, writing or painting in the quiet, playing music, and sharing time with friends and family. A poem that resonates deeply for me—and one I often share—is Mary Oliver’s “Wild Geese”:

“Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.”

  • Heart Stone Counseling is a training site for graduate-level clinical interns. Interns are completing their master’s degree in counseling or a related field and are in the process of fulfilling practicum or internship requirements for licensure.

    Interns at Heart Stone:

    • Work under the direct supervision of a fully licensed clinician who is trained in clinical supervision

    • Meet regularly with their supervisor to review casework, documentation, and treatment planning

    • Are not independently licensed and are practicing under the legal and ethical standards of their training program, licensure board, and this practice

    • Will be clearly identified to you before or during intake

Sessions with interns are offered at a reduced rate and are not billable to insurance. You will never be placed with an intern without your consent, and you have the right to decline intern services at any time.

Your privacy and care remain our highest priority. Any review of your case in supervision is done with identifying information limited whenever possible.
